Applied Linguistics
Subjects: Linguistics
M.A. | Master of Arts
Course description
Unlike the Bachelor’s degree program, the Master’s syllabus focuses solely on Applied Linguistics. This includes courses in German language and literature, as well as English and American studies. While interdisciplinary work is encouraged, the core remains linguistics. Students gain both theoretical and practical skills in language analysis and teaching. They also explore applied fields like language in institutions, sociolinguistics, and language acquisition. Throughout the program, students are urged to engage more deeply in the Faculty’s research projects. The curriculum emphasizes writing and presentation skills, along with handling various text types. The Master’s thesis involves a theory-based study of a linguistics topic, often linked to professional practice.
