Step 1 - Find your Study Program
Eberhard Karls University Tubingen
Tübingen
Korean Studies
Subjects: Korean Studies
M.A. | Master of Arts
Course description
The course is a consecutive, research-oriented program that delves into the history, culture, and society of modern Korea. It offers a unique perspective by examining these topics through both everyday and global historical lenses. Key areas of focus include Korea's role in the world, the impacts of colonialism and imperialism, the Cold War and the resulting partition, popular culture and media, as well as migration and diaspora. Students will enhance their Korean language skills, particularly in academic contexts, through specialized courses. The program is flexible, allowing students to begin their studies in either the winter or summer semesters. While a year abroad in South Korea during the third and fourth semesters is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged to enrich the learning experience. This four-semester course culminates in a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree.
