Building on the foundation of the bachelor program, the Master of Science in Physics at Cologne is a two-year journey. In the first year, students tackle a curriculum filled with mandatory courses while selecting their major and minor subjects from a wide array of active research areas within the Cologne physics faculty. This selection process is guided by lecture courses and early-research programs, helping students hone complex problem-solving skills essential for interdisciplinary research in fields like biology, chemistry, or mathematics. The second year is pivotal, featuring research modules that lead to the submission of a Master thesis. This hands-on research experience is central to the program's training strategy.
