Course description

Just a few decades back, many believed that religion and religiosity would fade from the public sphere over time. However, in recent years, especially in Western Europe, the interplay between religion and politics has become a hot topic in social, political, and academic discussions. This surge in interest stems from religion's newfound visibility in public life, driven by factors like religious diversity, evolving moral standards, and globalization. Questions arise: How tolerant should society be towards the cultural practices of minorities? Which values, such as gender equality, should remain non-negotiable? These are the kinds of issues tackled in the Master’s program "Religion, Ethics, and Politics" (MaREPol). This program equips students to explore and understand the intricate relationships between religion, society, and politics. It also prepares them to develop interdisciplinary solutions to the challenges that arise from these complex interactions.
