Interdisciplinary Neuroscience
Subjects: Neuroscience
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
Neuroscience spans a wide array of disciplines, encompassing molecular biology, proteome research, systems neurobiology, cognitive neuroscience, and clinical research. Successful research in this field relies on a blend of diverse concepts and methodical approaches. The primary goal of the program is to provide talented students with a research-oriented education that covers the most relevant areas of neuroscience. This includes basic neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and computational neuroscience, along with essential practical skills. Students will explore various levels of neural function complexity, from molecular biology to systems neuroscience. A key feature of the program is the optional training in clinical neuroscience, which introduces students to neuropathology and neurology. This training offers hands-on experience with current technical approaches used in clinical research. While intensive prior training in neuroscience is not required, a solid foundational knowledge in the field is crucial. This includes basic laboratory techniques, especially in cell biology. The interdisciplinary nature of the program welcomes students from diverse fields such as biology, medicine, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, informatics, and psychology. The program aims to foster interactions among students and between students and lecturers from these various disciplines.
