Course description

The MA in Global History explores the history of global interconnections and developments. This program combines the discipline of history with area studies. Rather than just offering a broad view of global change, it encourages students to gain deep knowledge about the cultural and social history of a specific region. They learn to place this region in the context of global structures and transformations through comparisons and a focus on interactions and exchanges. Students delve into study subjects that cover various aspects of global history, ensuring they understand the intricate web of global interconnections. The study program names reflect a commitment to fostering a comprehensive understanding of how different regions influence and are influenced by global developments. By focusing on both the macro and micro perspectives, the MA in Global History equips students with the tools to analyze and interpret the complex dynamics of global change. This approach not only broadens their historical knowledge but also enhances their ability to think critically about the world’s interconnected past and present.
