Barenboim Said Academy
Berlin
Music (Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Double Bass)
Subjects: Music
B.Mus. | Bachelor of Music
Course description
The Barenboim-Said Akademie offers a four-year Bachelor of Music degree, accredited and comprehensive, in orchestral instruments, piano, and composition. This program stands out by blending rigorous music performance training with a broad humanities education. The degree encompasses 240 ECTS credits, organized into ten pedagogically related modules. In the first two years, students gain a broad foundation in essential skills and concepts. The final two years allow for greater flexibility, offering advanced, elective courses. Students receive individual instrumental instruction and participate in group musical practice, including chamber music and orchestra, guided by internationally-renowned faculty. The curriculum includes courses in music theory, music history, and ear training. Advanced courses cover music performance, music education, musicology, and music composition. This holistic approach ensures that students not only excel in their musical abilities but also develop a well-rounded understanding of the humanities.
