Bioinformatics stands as a pivotal technology in the 21st century. The future of systems biology, systems medicine, and systems genetics—such as personalized medicine, innovative drug development, and high-quality food supply through molecular genetic analysis—relies heavily on bioinformatics. This field enables efficient analysis of data from modern procedures and models complex biological systems to predict the effectiveness of new medications. The University of Potsdam offers an English-language master's degree program in Bioinformatics. This program equips students with essential knowledge and skills. It targets those with a bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, mathematics, or physics. Certificate of the general university entrance qualification or a restricted entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences with English as the first foreign language or a university entrance qualification with confirmation of level B2 UNIcert® II, III or IV certificate TOEFL® Internet-Based Test (iBT) or TOEFL iBT Home Edition with at least 75 points Cambridge English B2 First (FCE) with at least 160 points IELTS or IELTS Online with at least 6.0 points in every test component Proof of completion of a program of study at a recognized university with English as the sole language of instruction or with English as a subject in the main or minor field, as a subject in teacher training, or within a comparable combination of subjects. Suitable certificates or documents to prove an English-language program of study include the degree certificate, a transcript of records, a diploma supplement, regulations concerning access to and conduct of studies, or comparable evidence. Qualification Requirements

Applying for a master’s degree generally requires you to hold an undergraduate degree, such as a bachelor’s degree. Your degree can be in biology. Other successfully completed university degrees in bioinformatics, computer science, physics or mathematics, not related to teaching programs, and with at least 180 credit points also qualify you for admission, as long as at least 6 credit points in programming can be documented. In order to be considered for the Bioinformatics master's degree program, you will also need English skills at B2 level, and, if German is not your native language, also German language skills commensurate with the A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
