Subjects: Social Sciences;Sociology
M.A. | Master of Arts
Course description
By bridging research and practice, the MA in Conflict, Security, and Peace (CSP) provides a comprehensive grasp of peace and conflict studies, enriched with practical insights from peacebuilding and conflict management fields. Students delve into concepts, theories, and research methods related to peace, conflict, and violence, drawing from political theory, comparative politics, and international relations. They employ both qualitative and quantitative methods to scrutinize actors, causes, and dynamics of conflicts and peace processes globally. This includes examining state-society relations, socio-economic contexts, political institutions, and various conflict resolution and peacebuilding approaches. A key focus of the program is the study of violent, intra-state conflicts. The MA CSP program seamlessly integrates practical experiences and expertise in conflict analysis and peacebuilding. Practitioners regularly contribute to lectures and seminars, sharing real-world insights. Additional seminars equip students with practice-oriented skills, such as project management and conflict resolution techniques. This blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application ensures that graduates are well-prepared to address complex peace and conflict challenges in diverse settings.
