Course description

The “Advanced Mineral Resources Development” degree program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly mining methods and mine remediation from a business perspective. This master's program involves international study at three of the nine partner universities, providing a comprehensive education in natural sciences, engineering, and economics. Students gain expertise in environmentally friendly mining and rehabilitation, preparing them for independent scientific work. The program emphasizes the importance of intercultural competence, a crucial skill for management roles in global raw materials companies. By studying at Montanuniversität Leoben, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and one of the partner universities, students enhance their ability to work in diverse cultural settings. The master's thesis is a key component, demonstrating students' ability to gather relevant information, develop it creatively, and achieve new insights. This scientific training prepares them for leadership roles, encouraging them to critically evaluate methods and procedures in the field. They are made aware of their responsibility to contribute to solving social and global problems through sustainable and environmentally compatible practices. The “International Master of Science in Advanced Mineral Resources Development” program includes 120 ECTS points, typically completed over four semesters (two academic years).
