Course description

Since 2004, the Global Labour University (GLU) network has been offering a Master’s program focused on sustainable development, social justice, international labour standards, trade unions, economic policies, and global institutions. This distinctive global initiative is a collaborative effort between universities and workers' organizations worldwide. It targets individuals with experience in labour and social movements who are eager to help these organizations engage more effectively in social dialogue, public debate, and policy implementation. Participants will delve into the complexities of globalization from a labour and trade union perspective, exploring these issues in a multidisciplinary setting. The program fosters a rich, multicultural, and multiregional environment, bringing together students and lecturers from developing, transition, and industrialized nations. This one-year joint degree program is offered by the University of Kassel and the Berlin School of Economics. The curriculum is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to address the challenges posed by globalization. By engaging in this program, students will gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of global economic policies and labour standards, and how these elements impact social justice and sustainable development. The program's unique structure and diverse cohort ensure a comprehensive learning experience that prepares graduates to make meaningful contributions to their respective fields.
