Global Food, Nutrition & Health
Subjects: Nutrition;Healthcare
M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
Ensuring our planet has a secure and sustainable supply of safe and healthy food is one of the biggest challenges we face today. Nutrient deficiency and various forms of malnutrition, along with the planetary, social, and cultural determinants of health, are significant issues in the 21st century. These global health problems aren't just medical or scientific challenges; they also involve the economy, culture, society, and politics. To tackle these issues, we need to understand the connection between producing and supplying enough safe food ("Food"), the social and cultural aspects of eating ("Nutrition"), and their impact on health ("Health") from a global and interdisciplinary perspective. The English-language Master’s degree program in “Global Food, Nutrition and Health” equips graduates with the skills to address these global challenges. This program takes a holistic approach. It combines insights from health and nutritional sciences with an interdisciplinary social and behavioral science perspective. This perspective includes political science, psychology, sociology, economics, ethics, and law. By integrating these fields, the program prepares students to understand and solve complex global health problems.
