Course description

Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) is a fast-evolving discipline that merges applied mathematics, particularly numerical analysis, with computer science and various scientific or engineering applications. This field is all about crafting problem-solving methods and creating robust tools for numerical simulation. In CSE, we don't just rely on theory and experiments to understand scientific and engineering phenomena. Computations play a crucial role too. Numerical simulations can complement experiments and even make it possible to study systems and problems that are too time-consuming, costly, or hazardous to explore through experiments alone. These simulations are incredibly detailed and realistic, demanding advanced skills in mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, efficient algorithms, computer architecture, software design and implementation, validation, and visualization of results. This program is designed to equip graduates in engineering, science, or mathematics with the necessary skills for a successful career in CSE, whether in a professional or academic setting.
