Course description

The Master’s program in Esthetic Dentistry (MED) at J.W. Goethe University, supported by the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry (IFED), began in Winter 2019. This international program provides advanced academic training in esthetic dentistry with a multidisciplinary approach. It is a 90 ECTS part-time program, conducted entirely in English. The 2-year Master's program respects your time constraints and job responsibilities. You only need to travel to Frankfurt three times during your studies, with each stay lasting up to 10 days. The MED program is tailored for general dentists who have already ventured into esthetic dentistry. It aims to equip students with the skills needed for complex synoptic treatments by enhancing their methodological and manual abilities and fostering an appreciation for the objective evaluation of esthetic cases. To achieve excellent esthetic results, the program covers various areas of dentistry. Topics include oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental prosthetics, periodontology, restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and dental technology. These subjects are integrated throughout the program to provide a well-rounded education. Language Requirements

The MED requires applicants whose native language is not English and who have not received a degree from a university in which all instruction is in English have to submit one of the following language certificates (or equivalent) along with the application: TOEFL iBT (minimum score: 87) IELTS (minimum score: 5.5) Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency (CPE) Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) Or equivalent

Qualification Requirements

The MED program is designed for the general dentist who has already taken the first step towards the field of esthetic dentistry. It aims to qualify students for demanding synoptic treatment options by enhancing their methodological and manual skills as well as increasing their awareness for the importance of objective evaluation of esthetic cases.. After successful completion of the program, the graduates will receive the academic title of "Master of Science (MSc.) in Esthetic Dentistry". Generally, you need at least two years of professional experience as a dentist to be considered for admission. Experience in the field of esthetic dentistry is an Advantage. Successful applicants to the MED hold a license entitling them to practice dentistry in their country and have the corresponding academic university degree.
