Course description

Students gain comprehensive expertise in water management, natural resource management, and related engineering challenges. This Master's program is tailored for students from developing and emerging nations, where issues like drought, flooding, and limited drinking water supplies are prevalent. These critical problems are thoroughly explored throughout the course. The program is a collaborative effort involving the Department of Hydrosciences, the Departments of Forest Sciences and Geosciences, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and the Center for Advanced Water Research (CAWR). This interdisciplinary approach ensures a well-rounded education, equipping students with the skills needed to address pressing environmental concerns in their home countries.

Qualification Requirements

Prerequisite: • a first university degree in a science or engineering degree (e.g. in Hydrology, Meteorology, Geography, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, Water management, Construction engineering, Waste management and contaminated sites, Landscape architecture, Forestry and agricultural engineering, Environmental engineering or related study courses), • English language skills at the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (evidenced by a language certificate like TOEFL, IELTS, UNIcert®) • proof of basic knowledge of Mathematics and the Natural sciences to be tested in an aptitude test.

These include: - certificate of the general or subject-related university entrance qualification (Zeugnis der allgemeinen / fachgebundenen Hochschulreife) with an advanced course (Leistungskurs) in English (with level C1 indicated) - certificate of the university entrance qualification completed entirely in English or certificate of a higher education degree completed entirely in English, and - the following English certificates given as an example: • TOEFL (108 internet-based) • IELTS (7) • UNIcert III
