M.Sc. | Master of Science
Course description
The Master of Science in Marine Geosciences is an internationally oriented graduate program that advances the latest in marine geosciences and technology. It focuses on marine coastal geology, past climates, biogeochemistry, and paleoecology. This degree equips students with a solid understanding of geological, biological, geochemical, and physical processes in the ocean. The program emphasizes both basic and applied research. At CAU, the extensive marine sciences spectrum offers students insights into modern research topics. Graduates will be skilled in creating and critically assessing scientific results. They will also be capable of planning, executing, and evaluating ship and laboratory projects independently. The program's unique feature is its close connection with the marine-oriented research units at the Institute of Geosciences at CAU Kiel. This collaboration with the Helmholtz Center of Ocean Research GEOMAR ensures a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education. It prepares students for successful careers in companies, universities, or public institutions, both locally and internationally. Given the global nature of marine sciences research, this program is designed for an international audience, with all courses conducted in English.
